I.TERMS OF REFERENCE OF PROJECT COORDINATOR (UNDER THE SPECIAL SERVICE AGREEMENT)
Under the supervision of Programme Specialist for Culture of UNESCO Jakarta Office, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
(i) Assist the Culture Unit in the implementation of the culture programme activities as a Project Coordinator
(ii) In particular, coordinate in implementing and monitoring of extra-budgetary project activities in Nias Island within the framework of Sub-Project to the Cultural Heritage Preservation Work within the Nias Islands Rural Access and Capacity Building Project (RACBP) through Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage in Nias, Indonesia in close consultation with the team from International Labour Organization for Nias Islands Rural Access and Capacity Building Project
(iii) Coordinate activities and maintain regular contacts with Government line agencies, I/NGOs, UN agencies and relevant universities and institutions with regards to the implementation of the culture programme activities in Nias Island.
(iv) Prepare necessary reports on culture programme activities in Nias Island.
(v) Undertake necessary missions, if required, to coordinate and monitor the implementation of culture programme activities in Nias Island.
(vi) Coordinate and supervise the organization of any cultural events, workshops, trainings, and other short-term courses, expert meetings and consultations related to the culture programme activities in cooperation with Government line agencies, NGOs, UN agencies and relevant universities and institutions to promote the protection of the cultural heritage of Nias Island.
(vii) Identify procurement needs to support culture programme activities in Nias Island on a monthly basis and coordinate the procurement service of the extra-budgetary project according to the procurement policy of the organization.
(viii) Perform other official duties related to UNESCO Culture Programme activities as assigned by the Programme Specialist for Culture and/or the Director of UNESCO Office, Jakarta.
(ix) Submit a monthly report by the end of each month and a final report at the end of the contract period detailing the work completed during the held position to the Programme Specialist for Culture.
II. COMPETENCIES:
1. Fluency in spoken and written in English as well as possess the ability to draft documents and express views in a clear and concise manner;
2. Demonstrated capability in team leadership as well as work independently with minimum supervision, with efficiency, competence, integrity and in harmony with people of different national backgrounds
3. Mature experience in project formulation and implementation
4. Ability to identify prioritized activities and assignments as well as manage time to ensure work is completed to deadlines and targets
5. Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex issues.
6. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and paying attention to details.
7. High level communication, negotiation and coordination skills
8. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and senior responsibility
III. Education and Training Background:
- National citizen
- University graduate/Postgraduate with interest in culture related discipline;
- At least 8 (eight) year relevant experience in project management with local and/or international organizations
- Having strong computer literacy skills with sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience in international organization, preferably within the UN System contexts is highly desirable
